Paid Family Leave


New York State’s Paid Family Leave law provides eligible participants of the Fund who are employed by contributing employers with paid leave to (1) bond with a newborn, newly adopted or new foster child; (2) take care of a family member with a serious medical condition; or (3) address circumstances arising from a family member’s call to active duty with the military. A participant employed by one (1) or more contributing employers whose regular work schedule is 20 or more hours per week becomes eligible for paid family leave after being employed with one (1) or more contributing employers for 26 consecutive weeks.

Effective Date Maximum Leave Maximum Benefit - Percentage of Employee's Salary
1/1/2021 - 12 weeks 67% of employee’s average weekly wage or 67% of state’s average weekly wage, whichever is lower.

Paid Family Leave is provided as a benefit through the Local 14 Welfare Fund in accordance with New York State’s Paid Family Leave law as well as the terms and conditions of a policy issued through an insurance carrier. After completing the applicable application and all required documents, please submit them directly to the Fund Office.
